
Habitat: Floodplain forests, flood-scoured river shores, dry rocky woodlands, and outcrops of at least somewhat basic or calcareous rock; also in ruderal habitats such as alluvial fields, ditches, damp roadsides, and disturbed tidal shores. Infrequent and scattered throughout Virginia; most frequent in parts of southwest Virginia.
Wildlife Value: Attractive to native bees and butterflies.
Edibility: The leaves and stems are edible, fresh or cooked.
Notes: Can be weedy
