Hepatica americana

Mesic to dry upland forests, rocky woodlands, well-drained floodplain forests; nearly ubiquitous in mesic forests, more restricted to base-rich soils in drier habitats. Common in the mountains and piedmont; infrequent in the coastal Plain.
