Monarda clinopodia

Mesic to fairly dry upland forests, preferring moderately to strongly base-rich soils; most numerous in rich cove forests and rich montane oak-hickory forests. Common in the mountains; infrequent in the piedmont, where mostly confined to the western foothills and along major rivers.
