Habitat: Varied wetlands, including floodplain forests and alluvial swamps, maritime swamps, tidal swamps, tidal freshwater and oligohaline marshes, depression swamps and ponds, wet flatwoods, seepage swamps, seeps, fens, and wet clearings; occasionally in mesic upland forests, especially near streams and rivers. Frequent to common in the Coastal Plain, Piedmont, and lower elevations of the mountains
