A variety of hog peanut that is more robust, has larger leaflets and white or pink flowers. Shoots and seed pods are covered in tawny hairs. More aggressive than A. bracteata var bracteata and has a tendency to climb nearby plants

Habitat
Mesic to dry forests and woodlands, well-drained floodplain forests; found mostly on moderately to strongly base-rich soils. Common throughout. Forms small colonies.
